Death toll rises to 32 in Surfside collapse as demolition opens new areas to search teams

The remaining portion of the 12-story Champlain Towers South, site of one of the worst building failures in U.S. history, tumbled to the ground, after a controlled demolition explosion at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4th, 2021. So far, 32 people are confirmed dead and over 100 are still missing in the rubble in the town of Surfside.
